Annette DRUMMOND Obituary

Annette Drummond passed away peacefully in the presence of her family into the presence of Jesus on December 17, 2015. She was a lymphoma cancer survivor for 25 years, until it recently returned. Ann was born on March 19, 1925 and had celebrated her 90th birthday with an extended family luncheon earlier this year. She is survived by a large extended family, including her husband of 63 years, Arthur Drummond. She had a prior marriage to Jack Howard (deceased) during which she had three children David Howard (Lisa), Gary Howard (Sandi Ridge), and Roslyn Transue Eliaser. She had one child with Arthur, Daniel Drummond (Martha). Her parents, Michael Ferro Sr. and Rose Ferro, emigrated from Italy making her a proud first generation Sacramenten growing up in the 42nd and "T" street neighborhood. She had three sisters, Elsie Rose, Stella (deceased), Barbara, and one brother, Mike (recently deceased). In addition to her four children she has ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren with one more on the way. Ann also has several nieces, nephews and cousins. She attended Kit Carson Junior High and Sacramento High School. Annette enjoyed working at several local movie theaters as an usherette and cashier in her younger years, before starting a career in retail at Hale's and Weinstocks. She changed careers by moving into civil service retiring from DMV in 1987 after 20 years. She was a hard worker and did her best to provide the extras that she never had for her children. Annette worshipped at both the First Church of God and Capital Christian Center where she volunteered in several positions. She especially enjoyed the Seniors Sunday School Class and the Agape Home Fellowships. She had a vivacious personality and was the center of attention at any family gathering or social engagement. Ann enjoyed attending the "Red Hats", the Dante Club Auxiliary and St. Mary's dinners, and Delta Sigma Sorority activities. She loved to cook lasagna for the family and host Sunday dinners. She would always encourage people to eat whenever they came to the house for a visit. She was an avid reader and loved growing flowers. She had a keen interest in people, places and things and was very accepting of all whom she met. Ann loved to spend time with her sisters shopping for fashionable clothing at Macy's and taking sightseeing trips. She was always very appreciative and thankful of even the smallest things you did for her. We were blessed to have her in our lives and are thankful for the 25 extra years that we had with her since her first diagnosis. She made such a difference to so many people. We miss her dearly but would not want her to miss the great reunion of family and friends she is now enjoying in heaven. At Ann's request, in-lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross. Our family would like to express their deep appreciation to Fijian Loving Angel In-home Care for their loving hospice care of Ann. A celebration of her life will be held at Capital Christian Center on Tuesday January 5th, 2016 at 2:00PM. Reception immediately following.
