Annette Miller Obituary

Annette Marie (Porter) Miller has passed away after her abrupt and unexpected battle with cancer on August 28th, 2018 in her home in Citrus Heights. She was born February 23rd, 1958 to parents Donald Porter and Minerva Luck. After graduating Roseville High School, she went to work for Gold Circle working her way up to a managerial position. She married her first husband in 1979 and a few years later her only daughter Heather was born. With the birth of her daughter she began working as an aide in the Roseville City School district. During that time, she attended Sacramento State earning a bachelor's degree, then a teaching credential. After receiving her credential, she went to work for the Rio Linda School District which became part of the Twin Rivers Unified School District at Madison Elementary then moving to Oakdale Elementary, where she taught third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade and ending with first. She eventually went back to school to earn a Master's in Art integration. In that time, she married her second husband, doing what they both love, teaching. Mark Lawler and Annette were married in 2003 and she would eventually spend the rest of her life with him. Annette was described by many as a straight shooter and an art enthusiast. Her favorite grade to teach was 6th but her favorite team to work with was the first-grade team at Oakdale. She was a strong advocate for arts in school and she hosted many after-school art nights, as well as spent Second Saturday in front of the Art of Toys doing art projects with children and their parents. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her daughter Heather, her brother Donnie, her husband Mark, and her stepchildren Brittany and Dennis. A service for Annette will be held October 6th, 2018 10:00am at St. Rose Church 633 Vine Avenue Roseville CA with a reception to follow in the church hall. If you wish to donate food, please contact Lynn Brys at (916) 782-1161. Flowers may be sent to St. Rose 633 Avenue, Roseville, CA.

Annette was an extraordinary student teacher in the credential program where I taught her for 3 semesters. Happy, positive, funny, caring, and a natural teacher. She will be missed by so many who care for and love her. My sympathies to Mark and her family, who have lost such a beam of sunshine. Love and hugs to you all.

My deepest condolences to your family during this most difficult time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who pass on are precious in his eyes. - Psalms 116:15.
Deepest sympathies,
Sere' Snyder
