Antone Christie Obituary


CHRISTIE, Antone

Born to a Greek immigrant father and Norwegian mother on November 26, 1916, in Sacramento, Calif. Passed away in Roseville on December 9, 2008. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Pauline Christie. Loving father of Margaret Tadlock and George Christie and grandfather of Nichol, Scott, Amanda, David, and Chad.

As a small child, he moved from Sacramento to Klamath Falls, Ore., where he graduated from the Sacred Heart Catholic Academy. In the 1930s he and his father built and operated the Klamath Falls Pelican Hotel, then Antone moved back to Sacramento. He married Pauline in 1941 and later returned to Klamath Falls to once again manage the hotel. He returned to Sacramento in the 1950s and raised his family. In retirement he and his wife moved to Roseville. He will be deeply missed by those close to him.

Friends and relatives are welcome for visitation on Monday, Dec. 15, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home, 400 Douglas Blvd., Roseville, and the funeral service on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 Stone Canyon Rd., Roseville. Interment will be private.

Our prayers and sympathy are with the entire family at this time of your great sorrow. Your father and grandfather was a very dear friend of all of the Baxter and Cook family's. Our loss of Mr. Christie is heavy. He will always be remember by us as a gentle, loving and kind man. His smile is forever imprinted in our minds. God Bless You All. He is now fishing in heaven with our father and husband, George Baxter.
