Benjamin Pechal Obituary

PECHAL, BENJAMIN J.
Died in Sacramento, March 17, 2002, at the age of 82. Born in La Grange, Texas, November 8, 1919, and was a resident of Sacramento for 58 years. He is survived by his loving wife Pauline; sons Robert (Gail) and Richard (Chris); granddaughters Monica Slingerman (Roger) and Cindy Pechal; grandsons Adam and Noah Pechal and great grandson Joshua Pechal; sisters Elsie Linthecum and Polly Epps; brothers Julius, Joe and Albert Pechal. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son John Pechal; sisters Bessie Schultz, Bea Clark, Mary Hayden, Helen Gimble and brother Milton Pechal. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force Medical Corps during World War II. After leaving the service, he worked in the retail meat business and from 1957 until his retirement, he managed the meat departments for the Pantry Markets. He was a member of SIRS Branch 23, the Cordova Raiders and Headhunters Golf Clubs. Friends are welcome for visitation Thursday, March 21, from 2PM to 6PM at W.F. Gormley Funeral Home, 2015 Capitol Avenue and are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, March 22, at 11AM at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 660 Florin Road. Private interment at St. Mary's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.
