Bennett Tyler Squires

April 28, 1933 - December 24, 2024

Carmichael, California - Passed away December 24,2024 at the age of 91 after a series of illnesses. Born in Sacramento April 28, 1933 to (John) Elwood Squires and Carol Tyler Squires. Ben grew up in Sacramento's "fabulous forties" neighborhood with younger brother Roy Squires attending Sacramento High. During these years he met Mary Ada Jones at folk dancing class. They quickly became high school sweethearts, getting married in 1952 and celebrating 72 years of marriage in 2024.

Ben was a proud graduate of UC Berkeley. He was also a proud US Army veteran serving in Germany. From college and the army, he went on to be a renowned Professional Engineer at Sacramento's California Division of Highways (CalTrans) for his entire career specializing in soil mechanics. Ben was also a prosperous investor known in clubs and chats as "The Bottomfisher" where he specialized in finding undervalued companies to buy and hold.

Ben and Ada were long-time residents of Carmichael, including living in Eskaton Village for the last 8 years. Prior to Eskaton, they lived in Sun City Lincoln Hills.

Ben is survived by Ada, his daughter Leslie Morelli, his son Ronald Squires (Sherri), his grandsons Mitchell Squires, Alek Squires (Kirsten), Ryan Morelli and great-grandson Zachary Squires.

At his request, no services will be held. Inurnment at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento and Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.

I first met Ben & Ada in 1984 in Alexandria, Virginia. And dearly love them both!
My sincere condolences to Ada and their children for Ben's passing in Dec 2024.
