Resident of Roseville

Bernard Orovitz passed away July 12, 2013 at the young age of 84 while on a trip to Michigan to visit family and friends of his wife, Joann.

Barney was born February 5, 1929 in Daly City, California to Herman Orovitz and Ethel Silverstein. He grew up with his younger brother, Jack and sister, Faye in Daly City and attended Jefferson High School. He had a long and prosperous career with the Bank of California rising to a senior management position. He also met his first wife, Neysa while working at the bank. This lead to the births of their 4 children Rachel, Matthew, William, and Erica. The family eventually moved south settling in San Jose.

Barney loved life and cared deeply for his family and friends. He also had a passion for sports. He ran marathons and loved playing poker with his friends at the Sun City club house. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His life should be celebrated!

Barney is survived by his wife, Joann; sister, Faye; children, Rachel, Matthew, and Erica. His legacy will be carried on by his grandchildren, Matthew and Neysa Smith, Danna and Alex Orovitz, Will Orovitz, and Grace and Luca Aghili.

A celebration of his life will be held where he had been living at the Sun City Roseville Community Center, 7050 Del Webb Blvd, Roseville, CA 95747 on Sunday August 18th from 1:00 to 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, we strongly encourage you to make a donation to your favorite local Hospice organization or Hospice of the Valley in San Jose whom our father was very close to.
