Bernard A. Waxstein Jr.

Bernard A. Waxstein, Jr., age 85, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Rotunno Waxstein, with whom he had three daughters, Maria, Catherine and Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife, Della Clowan Waxstein and her two children, Michael and Deanna (Bob) and 11 grandchildren: Abraham, Miranda, Gabriel, Isaiah, Megan, Zachary, Jacob, Tawnya (deceased), Rachelle, Janell and Evan; 1 great grandchild: Lucian; and niece, Bernadette Crosson. He was born in Chicago, IL, at 18 months of age, moved to Yonkers, NY. He attended Fordham Law School, was admitted to the New York Bar in 1956. In 1957 he was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant, JAG Corp (USAF) and entered active duty for what eventually proved to be a 30 year career. He was active in the church where he served on numerous committees. He also did volunteer work with charitable and non-profit organizations as well as fulfilling a long-standing interest in the performing arts, especially classical music, opera and the stage. A funeral Mass will be held February 11, 2017 at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish at 1:00. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery on February 13, 2017 at 11:00 with full military honors.
