Carl Cox Obituary

COX, Carl M.
Carl was born March 9, 1964 and went for a walk with Jesus on January 20, 2005 while surrounded by his loving wife and family in Orangevale, California. Carl is survived by his wife, Gina; son & grandson, Joshua & Jordan of Placerville, CA; daughter & grandson, Rhianna & Isaak of Orangevale, CA; mother, Marilyn of Florida; brothers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, & Tennessee; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, mother- & father-in-law; brothers- & sisters-in-law; nieces & nephews; multiple golfing partners, softball teammates, & fellow Pacific Gas & Electric employees. Carl was born in Riverside, CA & moved to Alverton, Pennsylvania in his first year of life. He graduated from Fraizer High School in PA. He returned to CA at the age of 18 & attended American River College. Carl was very active in sports & coached his daughter's softball teams & his son's basketball team. He was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins & Sacramento Kings. Carl felt blessed to be invited to Miami to watch a game and meet all of the Dolphins players. He was enthused to recently be a guest of Maloof Sports at a Kings game and was very appreciative of the opportunity to watch the game floor side. Carl was also invited to a private screening of one of his favorite movies as a guest of Century Theaters of which he was very grateful. Carl was extremely proud to donate to stem cell research as he was aware of the future of this research to help others. Carl was a consistent inspiration of hope to all who met him. We were all lucky to have such a beautiful man be a part of our lives. He is and always will be greatly missed. A celebration of Carl's life will be held on Sat. January 29 at 1:30pm, Church of Christ, 5915 Main Ave., Orangevale, CA.

Carl was my cousin and we used spend a lot summers together in Pennsylvannia. I was a little older and was allowed to drive our grandfather's dirt bike. I remember giving Carl rides and the big smile on his face when we would take off, blazing new trails through the woods.

Carl was a great human being and will greatly be missed here on earth.

I love you Carl.

Carl was one of the most kind people I have known. His positive attitude and kindness were at times a great inspiration to me and undoubtedly to many of those that came in contact with him. His good spirit was evident on the softball field as well as the other aspects of his life that I had the honor of participating in. I know his spirit will live on in the lives that he touched. His love and devotion towards his family was obvious. He will no doubt be missed by all who knew him.

Carl was my cousin and will always remember him as the loving little boy with a sweet smile and baseball hat. He grew into this incredible man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren with his whole heart. I will remember Carl as the proud father and grandfather seeing his face light up as he held them.

Game Called

Game Called. Across the field of play

the dusk has come, the hour is late.

The fight is done and lost or won,

the player files out through the gate.

The tumult dies, the cheer is hushed,

the stands are bare, the park is still.

But through the night there shines the light,

home beyond the silent ill.

Game Called. Where in the golden light

the bugle rolled the reveille.

The shadows creep where night falls deep,

and taps has called the end of play.

The game is done, the score is in,

the final cheer and jeer have passed.

But in the night, beyond the fight,

the player finds his rest at last.

Game Called. Upon the field of life

the darkness gathers far and wide,

the dream is done, the score is spun

that stands forever in the guide.

Nor victory, nor yet defeat

is chalked against the players name.

But down the roll, the final scroll,

shows only how he played the game.

Carl was my nephew. I lived in Penryn,CA on 3 acres. After his Uncle Frank passed away, he would come out & help me with lawn, pasture & other misc. jobs. I will miss his sweet smile & loving attitude. He could make me laugh anytime. I will miss him so much. My heartfelt sympathy goes to my sweet sister Marilyn, Gina, Josh & Rianna. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

On January 20, 2005, Cousin Carl passed away at the age of 40. Cousin Carl battled brain cancer for over 17 months while taking advantage of his remaining time enjoying exotic trips and telling everyone he loved how important they were to him. Cousin Carl never complained of his situation and even as he became too weak to sit up in bed, he retained the same wit and charm that drew people towards him. Cousin Carl was the one person that you would always look for at the party, call if you had an extra ticket, or could be guaranteed to laugh with regardless of the circumstances (like at a funeral). Those who met Cousin Carl liked him and those who knew him loved him. He was inexhaustible when it came to work, yet he always made sure that he had ample time to spend with his family and would help his friends without hesitation. Anyone would be fortunate to pass with just a fraction of the love, friendship, respect, and laugh-to-yourself memories that Cousin Carl left us with. The lights dimmed a little when Cousin Carl passed, but the memories he left us with will brighten us up when we most need it.

Carl was my cousin by marriage but from early on he was family to me. I met Carl when I was 14 years old and consider myself lucky to have known him. He had a love for life that was contagious. You couldn't help but feel happy when you were around him. He was like a brother to my husband and I am happy that he and Douglas shared much fun and many great memories. He introduced me to one of my favorite singers...Bruce Springsteen. I will always be thankful for that and for the many great times we all shared together. I wish Gina, Josh, Rhianna & Marilyn many blessings and support during this time and hope they find comfort in knowing that Carl is home with his King and entertaining our family members that have gone before us. We love and miss you much Carl.

Although I was only able to know Carl for a few short years through softball leagues I got to see some of his special qualities. My condolences to Carls family. He was a great man and a great softball player.
