Carter Vanderford Obituary
December 31, 1948 - July 9, 2025
Sacramento, California - Carter Alan Vanderford passed away unexpectedly on July 9th, 2025. Carter was born on December 31st, 1948 in Sacramento, California. He was the devoted son of the late Marlyn M. Vanderford and the late Glen T. Vanderford of Sacramento. Carter was a graduate of Sacramento High School and attended Sacramento City College.
Carter proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army and completed a thirteen month tour in Vietnam. Upon his Honorable Discharge he returned to Sacramento to work in the family business, Newbert Hardware, a well known institution that served the Sacramento area for more than 83 years.
Carter is survived by his significant other of 25 years, Nancy Manning, with whom he shared many wonderful adventures and countless memories. He is also survived by his son, Scott Vanderford, daughter Lindsay Androvich (Joe), as well as his three grandchildren, Henry Androvich, Theodore Androvich and Leo Androvich. Carter is also survived by many loving family members and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 22nd, 2025 at The Sutter Club, 1220 9th Street in Sacramento at 11:00 a.m. Private internment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers please donate on Carter's behalf to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Carter was the love of my life for 25 years. We had many good times together. I will miss him everyday. I am happy that Carter and I made it to Hawaii in January. he wanted to stay in the historical rooms at the Royal Hawaiian where his parents had stayed. I got to meet Carter's family, friends and classmates. You all touched my heart, and I will not forget all of you.
