December 1, 1923 - October 16, 2021
Sacramento, California - Chee Fat, who was the matriarch of two prominent families, the Fat restaurant family of Sacramento and the Chan Phoenix Bakery family of Los Angeles, died on October 16, 2021. She was 96. Loving wife of the late Wing Kai Fat and beloved daughter-in-law of Frank and Mary Fat, Chee passed away quietly at her Sacramento home with her immediate family by her side: sons Collin Fat and Weyland Fat, daughter Corinne Chee, daughter-in-law Elaine Fat, son-in-law Rick Chee, grandsons Bryan Fat, Eric Chee and Bradley Chee, granddaughter Natalie Fat, great-granddaughters Charlotte Chang and Olivia Chang, and grandson-in law Kevin Chang.
She was preceded in death by parents Chung Yat Chan and Au Young Shee, brothers Fung Chi Chan, Chow Chan, Lun Chan, sisters-in-law Wai Hing, Lina Fat and Jenny Fat and brothers-in-law Tom Fat, Pat Moffat and John Lai.
Chee is survived by brothers-in law Dr. Ken Fat, Jerry Fat and sisters-in- law Dorothy Chan, Jean Lai, Mable Moffat and Perla Fat - in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.
Chee was a generous supporter of the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation (SASF) so generations of Asian-American youth and their families could have a place to recreate, meet new friends and continue to celebrate the joys of being a part of the Asian-American community. She was all heart and always put others first. As a proud Trojan, she would tell us to "Fight On!"
Friends are welcome to attend a visitation at W.F. Gormley & Sons Chapel on Friday, November 12 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be private. The family asks that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association and SASF in her memory.

As of 12-18-2021, I was unaware that Chee Fat had passed on. Instant letdown to read such news. I was googling for information on Frank Fat's downtown Sacramento restaurant just to learn some the history. My father Frank Louie, now also passed, I believe went to school with Kai Fat, Chee's husband. I still remember visiting what was either Frank Fats, or Kai's house. I was young in those days, and not totally aware of all details. What I do remember was that the house and backyard was magnificent. My brothers and sister played with the rickshaw in the backyard. I think that was the only rickshaw I have ever seen! I can only assume that Chee and Kai were living a wonderful life together. I wish Chee reunites back with Kai to continue their journey into the infinite future. Roger W. Louie 12-18-2021 in SoCal.
