Citrus Heights, California - Cheryl Ford Filipiec was born to Reno and Devena Ford on November 14, 1945 in Houston, TX and passed away on October 1, 2021 in Citrus Heights, CA. She is survived by her husband, Jerome Filipiec, 5 children: Miriam Stanford-Cusack, Shauna Stanford, Dzen Filipek, Joshua West, and Sakre Heinze, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
During her premed studies at the University of Texas, she took one drawing class and decided to change her major to fine art. She graduated with a BFA and spent her life as an artist, mostly in Austin and Dallas, TX. Her specialization was watercolor, for which she won the Coop Book award during her time at UT. Her self-owned business, Illusions Unlimited, was known for creating murals and faux finishes. An artist in the kitchen as well, we all knew her as a master pie maker. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she was happiest with a baby in her arms. She had a kind heart and a kind word for anyone she met and always made sure that those she loved knew that they were loved.
A memorial will be held this spring in Yachats, OR at her favorite beachside spot.

Cheryl was my best friend since 1947. We lived next door to each other and played together for hours each day. There was a beautiful Weeping Willow tree in her yard with long tendrils touching the gtound where we could play house among pther thingd. the stairs on pillows wrapped in blankets. Playing hide and seek in her large house with huge cavernous closets. My mama watched over her while her mother worked as a nurse at Hermann Hospital She was always artistic. She sent me two pictures of angels she had painted, they are on my wall.
