I saw the obituary last year and was saddened by the news. I met Dave at U-Tapao in 1966/67. I was just a young airman. We had an odd arrangement where a number of us shared an office. Dave found out my wife was due to give birth in October and he arranged for me to get hops all the way back to Ohio. I was there for the birth of our first child/son. I will always be grateful for his kindness and friendship. He always spoke so highly of his family -- a devoted husband and father.

I remember Dave Eckley as my dad's co-worker in the Air Force, Clifford P. Givans. They flew together. He was always nice to us kids and my mom and dad always spoke highly of the Eckleys. My parents have since passed on. Godspeed CMSGT Eckley. Our prayers are with the family.

Dave,
Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. While we did not see your Dad often outside of the "Best" Season, I (we) enjoyed every moment sitting with a Great Fan. His enjoyment of the Game and his admiration of the boys was pure and true.

You are in our hearts and prayers.
