He was 61 years old. Born to parents, John E. Hipes and Levia M. Hipes (Giannini) in Oroville, CA. He was the 6th of 8 children. David attended Elementary and High School in Oroville, CA. David will be remembered for his ability to bring passion and wit to any conversation - he liked nothing more than a good argument and expressing his spirited views on a subject. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lee; brothers, Frank and Jack; and sister, Sadie. His surviving immediate family members are sister, Laura Virginia Morgan of Clovis, CA; brother, Jesse B. of Oroville; brother, Dan W. of Sacramento; sister, Judy L. Hall from Fresno, CA; daughter, Jonnee Lee Rose (Jeremiah) Filson of Castro Valley, CA; sons, Benjamin David (Sara) of Fremont, CA, David Gus of Oroville; David Dakota of Oroville, David Karl of Oroville; daughter, Jonneal of Oroville; grandchildren, Miah and Annamarie Filson, Jasmine Stewart, Jacob Hipes; nephews, Jesse Ben Hipes of Spokane, WA, Toby Hipes of Oroville, Dan A. Hipes of Bellevue, IL, Kenneth Coffman of Fresno, Jimmy Hipes (deceased), Billy Hipes, Steven Hipes of Oroville, Jackie Hipes of Oroville, and Tommy Hipes of Oroville; nieces, Julie Lombardi of Spokane, WA, Felicia N. Hipes of Sacramento, Susan Thompson of Fresno, Martha Yamak of Virginia, Kelly Whitney of Paradise, CA, Kimberly Northcraft, of Fresno, Gina Lewis of Fresno, Vickie Hipes, and Alice Hipes. David had many interests, some of the more noteworthy were his love for his children, relatives and friends, fishing, and cooking for his family. He was an excellent cook. He tried for years to emulate "Mom's" cooking and he was successful with many recipes. I believe Mom really did like you best. You will be missed, brother, father, uncle, and friend. No services have been scheduled, at request of David's wishes.
