David Jeong Obituary

Born on August 9, 1927 to Wah Chu and Yuen Shee Jeong in San Francisco, California, David L. Jeong passed away on January 21, 2012 at the age of 84 after a brief illness. He is survived by Grace his beloved wife of over 60 years. He is also survived by sons Cameron (Lori) and Russell (Rhondal), and grand children Megan, Allison, Bryan, and Colin as well as many other family members and friends. David was raised with sisters Marie, Anne, and brother Tom (Rosalind). They spent about seven years of their childhood in China returning to America when the Second World War began. David served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer USS Chevalier in the Pacific Theater during the last year of the Second World War. Following the war, David received training as a mechanic at the National Trade School in Los Angeles. He worked at several jobs for the next few years until he joined United Airlines as a mechanic in 1957. David worked at United for the next 28 years rising up to become Foreman of Quality Assurance. During those years he helped inspect the production of new Boeing 747s in Seattle for United's air fleet. David and Grace retired in 1983 and moved to Sacramento near other family members including Grace's sister Katherine, nephew Alan, niece Patty (Jimmy), their son Mitchell and niece Natalie. During his retirement, he continued his interest in the aircraft industry with maintenance work on cargo and small aircraft at the Sacramento Executive Airport for about five years. He volunteered at the Sacramento Food Bank. He was generous and always willing to help family and friends with home repair and improvement projects which he enjoyed. He also enjoyed travel and a good meal. He will be missed and loved by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 4300 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA. 95819 on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at 10:00 am.

David & Grace currently has been my neighbor's for the past couple years. Me and my twin sons am truly blessed to have known him and we are going to miss our talks with him. My heart and prayers go out to Grace, Russell and the entire family. God bless you all.
