Although I am no longer a member of the Schwartz family, David performed my marriage to Glen Schwartz many years ago. I always loved talking with David and found him to be a very kind and loving soul. I know your family will miss you David, as well as all the people's lives you touched. God Bless the Schwartz family and my prayers will always be with you.

I was fortunate to know Fr. Dave through attending a retreat that he gave in Running Springs for the Corpus Christi Club and through the home masses he said for our Catholic singles group, the Orange County Catholic Alumni Club. He always had a big smile and a big heart. He will be sorely missed. My husband and I moved from Southern California to the Portland area last year - We were praying fervently that he would be found safe. May God Bless your family for all Blessings you have allowed to others through knowing Fr. Dave.

My wife and I used to attend St. Barnabas parish in Long Beach. When they were short on priests for Sunday Masses, Fr. David used to assist. That is really our only contact with him, but he made a strong impression. It can't be easy "pinch hitting" in a parish not your own. But he was always so friendly, warm, giving, loving and approachable. Those few contacts were enough to endear him to us. Reading about his disappearance and then finally his discovery was difficult and emotional. Our sympathies and prayers go out for him and his family. May God continue to bless you, as Fr. David so faithfully demonstrated in his ministry to all.

Fr. David was a great blessing to the Catholic Deaf Community in Orange County. His gracious charisma and patience with the community will always be remembered. May he forever be remembered as the "smiling and waving priest" in the hearts of all those deaf who he inspired with his wonderful homilies.

As a member of Corpus Christi Fellowship group in Newport Beach, California, I wanted to give my condolenses and prayers to the Schwartz family. We as a fellowship community were blessed to have Fr David lead our retreats on two seperate occasions. He really connected with our group since we were all of similar ages. What a gift he was to us and I'm sure a gift to you as a son, brother, friend and priest. His wonderful spirtuality touched us all in our fellowship commnunity and we are thankful to have had the opportunity to know him. I know his soft demeanor and warm presence will continue to shine forth. May God's everlasting love and Grace be with you all!

To the Schwartz Family and the extensive family of Friends of Fr. David Schwartz.
Fr. David was a real Blessing for us, my wife and I, and the Catholic Deaf Community (CDC) of Orange County. He was a gift of the most sincere, intelligent, kind and wonderful sort! He had a real talent for communicating to the CDC whenever he was able to be the serving Priest. On those Sundays the CDC was fortunate to be able to share with him and he with the community. He also made the Special Holy Days extra-special after his service.
Speaking personally, he was influential in many ways for my wife and I. We constantly referred to him, things he said, and his honest, peaceful and caring nature. He was very enthusiastic and it was contagious to those who were fortunate to hear him or speak with him. Whether a hearing person or hearing impared person with help of an sign language interpreter. Whether heard or seen in sign language, he was influencial.
Fr David will be missed greatly by my wife and I and also by the Catholic Deaf Community of Orange County !!!
Good Bye to a truly wonderful man that happened to be a Priest, and what a Priest!!!

Those who knew him will obviously miss David. Despite going through elementary school with him, I never completely connected due to our different paths. His younger brothers, Larry and Brian, were more into sports, so I gravitated to them. David was content during those early years to let others have the limelight. I never remember him being anything but positive and supportive of others. His glory was soon to come. Judging by the comments at the Sacred Heart Church service, David certainly found his glory and his calling. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz for their amazing contribution to society by raising an exemplary family.
My condolences to the Schwartz Family,

Dear Schwartz family,
You cannot know the great number of individuals your son touched through his ministry. You must have been so pleased with him, as well as with all your children, who obviously loved each other very much--something they undoubtedly learned from you as a couple.
Fr. Dave said Mass several times at our parish, Our Lady of the Rosary in Union City, CA. This was when he was working with PICO and COR in the Bay Area. We loved his spirituality and his zest for life. We all remember his smile and his little gesture of standing on tiptoe and saying "Very good! Very good!" Surely the Lord prepared a mansion in heaven for this priest--for he was no run of the mill guy--he actually inspired people to follow Christ.
May God bless you, his family and his friends and his brother priests.

Father David,
We were so looking forward to meeting you as you were to officiate at Steven and Alyssa's marriage. I am sorry that we never got that chance. I know you would've been as charming and as wonderful as your family is. We will just have to wait to meet you when we are worshipping the Lord in Heaven. To the Schwartz family, God bless you and surround you with His peace that passes all understanding. Love, Val, Vilma & Glori Chavez

Although I did not know David in his adult years, I had the pleasure of being in his class at Sacred Heart elementary school. David was always kind and respectful towards his peers and I am proud to have known him. It is not a surprise that he devoted his life to Christ. My thoughts and prayers are with all your family.

Dave, Margaretta and family members, my heart and prayers go out to you during this very difficult time in your lives. Dave and I were the same age and I was very impressed by his career choice, to become a priest. I always kept track of him through my parents Arnold and Bobbie Boehm. I read something one time that said "The ones we love are never gone, they live within our hearts" I know these words are not very comforting right now, but I hope in time they will be. Dave will be missed by his family, friends and the people who loved him. However, I am sure God has plans for him and I can feel at peace knowing that.
