Dorothy Field Obituary


FIELD, Dorothy Butter
Born December 17, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., passed away peacefully April 7, 2009, after a full and active life of 83 years. Preceded in death by her parents Mathias and Anna Butter and her beloved husband of 52 years, Thomas M. Field. Survived by her children, Thomas Jr., Karen (Greg Wessel), James (Debra), Colleen, and Kathleen (Chuck) Brown. Also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Alison, Brendan, Collin, Justin, Mark, Andrew, Nathan and Steven, and three great-grandchildren. Dorothy's boundless energy allowed her to pursue her passions. She was an avid golfer and loved leading her family on globe-trotting expeditions. Dorothy's great presence in the community was exemplified by her volunteer efforts with the OLA Food Locker and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She also enjoyed relaxing in her garden and was often spotted cruising around the neighborhood in her blue convertible. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who dearly treasure their memories of her unconditional love, spirit, and generosity. A viewing at 6:00 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 5057 Cottage Way, Carmichael. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Our Lady of the Assumption with interment following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Office of Development, Loretto Convent, P.O. Box 508, Wheaton, IL 60187 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
