Dorothy Keller Obituary

KELLER, Dorothy
June 30, 1918 - August 9, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our grandmother, Dorothy Keller, at the age of 91. We were very blessed to have her with us all these years. She was a mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters, her son Paul Stoops, and husbands Art Stoops and Raymond Keller. She leaves behind granddaughters Elaine, Diane and Donna, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. She was born in Logansport, Ind., in 1918 and moved to Sacramento with her husband Art where she raised her son Paul. She later moved to Reno and Sparks, Nev., where she lived throughout her marriage to Raymond Keller. She thoroughly enjoyed playing that ''one-armed bandit'' with her longtime friend Frank Tovar. Throughout the course of her life she took care of her nieces and nephews and she cared for many foster children. She always had a hug and a smile for everyone she met. She is the last member of the Davidson family and we will always hold a very dear and special place in our hearts for her. At her request there will be no burial services. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Thursday, August 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Orangevale Community Center, 6826 Hazel Avenue, Orangevale, CA 95662. Dinner and refreshments will be served.

Aunt Dot will be missed, but she will always have a special place in my heart and memory. She always greeted you with a hug and a smile. She always had the best stories too.

John and my hearts go out to all of you at this time and in the days ahead.

Dear Grandma Dot,

Thank you for teaching me the valuable lessons you taught me throughout my life and for always making me feel so loved. Sayings like "just take people as they are," and "forgive and forget" were common advice you gave to all of us and I will always remember them and you. You had so much love for me and my brother and sisters and we all loved you so much. I cannot imagine what it will be like to remain here without you. You were so much a part of our lives that we will just have to keep a place for you at every celebration. I know you are with all of family and loved ones who went before us and that you all must be having a joyous reunion. Please know you will never be forgotten. Until me meet again,

Love,

Elaine
