Elise Purdy-Auld Obituary

PURDY-AULD, Elise Danielle

Elise Purdy, of Pollock Pines, ended her battle with leukemia on August 9, 2004, just weeks before her 10th birthday. She passed peacefully at home in the presence of her parents, Todd and Karen Purdy. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen of Concord, brother Ryan of Placerville, grandparents Janice Auld of Concord and Warren and Joyce Bisbee of Lincoln, many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and her young niece and nephew Mickaela and Anthony. Elise possessed a unique mixture of a child's innocence and an elder's wisdom. She liked butterflies, angels, arts and crafts, animals, and music. During her stay on Earth, Elise touched many lives, radiating joy and putting smiles on faces. The family would like to thank the pediatric oncology staff at Kaiser, Morse Ave. for their unsurpassed care of Elise for four years; also the volunteers and staff of Snowline Hospice, whose compassionate care during Elise's final year was invaluable. Thanks also to the leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Give Kids the World, Camp Okizu, and the many other organizations that helped make Elise's later years special. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to charitable organizations, or to the Elise Purdy fund at Schools Credit Union (acct#30742599). A memorial service for Elise will be held at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville on Wednesday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. She will then be buried at Westwood Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of Elise's life will follow, back at Chapel of the Pines. All are welcome to attend.

Elise was a bright, funny, and beautiful girl. Suds and I were her counselors her last year at Camp Okizu and were amazed at the joy that she brought to those around her. Elise will be loved, honored, and remebered forever.

Elise was one of the most amazing kids I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. She was funny and downright witty. She was an incredibly sweet and caring kid and will be missed greatly by the Camp Okizu Family.
