DeBARGER, Elizabeth G.
Elizabeth Betty DeBarger was born in Bronxville, NY in 1944 to Cmdr. Frederic Greene and Cathryne Greene, and passed away on May 30, 2009 from complications related to ovarian cancer. Betty graduated from Westfield High School, Westfield, NJ and married Robert ''Bob'' DeBarger. Soon after, Betty and Bob moved to Western Springs, IL, where they raised their three children, Barbara, Douglas, and Stephanie. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University in Chicago and achieved both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She went on to work for the American Red Cross, MacNeal Hospital, and InterPark, Inc., in the Chicago area prior to retiring and moving to Auburn, CA. Everyone remembers her as a loving wife and mother, friend to all, and that she experienced life with joy and delight. She was active in many organizations, including the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Northern California, PEO, St. Teresa of Avila Church in Auburn, CA, and Girl Scouts of America. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Bob, along with their children, Barbara DeBarger (Judy) of San Ramon, CA, Douglas DeBarger (Candace) of Weston, CT, and Stephanie Juskie of Granite Bay, CA. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Schuyler, Madeline, Thomas, Holly, Elizabeth, and Kimberly, and her mother, Cathryne Greene, of Virginia Beach, VA. She also leaves sister Patricia Bates and brother John Greene, and sisters-in-law, Patricia Keadle and Barbara Gigon, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from all over the country. A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila church in Auburn, CA on Sat., June 13 at 11:30am. Donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Sacramento Chapter, Girls Scouts of America, or PEO Int'l.
