Franklin Erickson Obituary


ERICKSON, Franklin E.
Born January 22, 1911 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, died January 24, 2003 in Folsom, CA. 90-year resident of Sacramento County. Preceded in death by his daughter Susan Erickson Drew, son Neal Franklin Erickson, sister Nell Lueders and brother Harry Erickson. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 66 years, brother A. "Babe" Erickson, daughter -in-law Cherie Erickson, four grandchildren- Stephen Drew, Jennifer Drew Mathisen, Erickson Drew & Christopher Erickson, and four great-grandchildren- Megan, Jonathan, Amanda & Sean. Mr. Erickson was a third generation contractor. In his over 60 years in business his company, Erickson Construction, completed scores of projects throughout four states. Some of these projects were joint ventures and included 36 shopping centers, numerous theaters, hotels (including the first on Maui, the Sheraton Maui), hospitals, schools and government buildings. In 1957 he was the president of the Association of General Contractors. Mr. Erickson was also a board member of the Sacramento Builder's exchange, member and former V.P. of the Greater North Area Chamber of Commerce, Commodore of the Port of Sacramento, and the Sacramento County Grand Jury foreman in 1958, and was the recipient of the Spirit of Sacramento Award for outstanding community service in 1964. He was on the Advisory Board of the Sisters of Mercy, a member of the Scottish Rite Temple. He was also a member of Rotary International, Del Paso Country Club, the Sutter Club, Sierra View Country Club, Grandfather's Club and the Duck Club. His love, encouragement and optimism will be greatly missed. Donations, in lieu of flowers,to the Shriners' Hospital would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6th at St. John's Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m., followed by Christian Burial. Viewing will be from 4-7p.m. Wednesday at Lombard & Co. funeral home, 1550 Fulton Ave.

May it comfort you to know that others care, The Fetch family (Lynn, Gene, & Ken ) and the Breslin family (Jim & John)were certainly influenced by the leadership, knowledge, and kindness of Frank,not just as a Boss, but always a friend..may he rest in peace.
