August 3, 1939 - July 25, 2021
Gold River, California - Gary Taylor Lee was born August 3, 1939 on his mother's birthday to Orville Lee and Sadie Belle Taylor in Clay Center Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Charleen, sister, Ruthann Sisk and nephew, Terry; children Stacy (Toni), Victoria and Gary Jr. (Rutsell). He has five grandchildren, Madison, McKayla, Michael, Karrissa and Brandon. Great grandchildren include Kaylynn, Devyn, Malachi and Prescilla.
Shortly after Gary was born, the family moved to California settling near Sacramento where he grew up. He attended Rio Linda grade school and Grant H.S. graduating in 1957. He started his career in the grocery business at a small grocery in Rio Linda before he joined Lucky Grocery Stores. Gary stayed with Lucky's until his retirement in 1996. Not being one to sit around, he promptly started volunteering at the Kaiser Hospital on Morris Avenue in Sacramento where he gave over 4000 hours of service. He was also a frequent blood donor. His service toward helping others less fortunate included working at Carmichael Church's Food Closet where you could find him several times a week. Gary's love of duplicate bridge made him a regular player at the local bridge clubs in the area where he attained the rank of Ruby Life Master. He played bridge at least 2 times a week until just 10 days before he entered the church triumphant.
A Memorial Service will be held at Carmichael Presbyterian Church in Carmichael, California on August 5, 2021 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, Gary had designated the Food Closet at Carmichael Presbyterian Church for any memorials.
