VIECK, GEORGE M.
Peacefully passed away at home in Carmichael on Saturday, September 6, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Lois G. Baker Vieck. Loving father of Victoria V. McCanne & Adrian Martin Vieck. Devoted grandfather of Beau Dan Pendergraft (and wife Kristi), Norman Richard Pendergraft & Georgiana Louise McCanne and great grandfather of Zakariah Cadman Pendergraft, Jedidiah Reading Pendergraft & Abigail Renee-Lynn Pendergraft. Also survived by his loving first wife and long time friend Marie Baretta and his special neighbor Mariam Duncan. George was a dedicated Traffic & Peace Officer who worked for Sacramento State University for 25 years. A native of Berlin, Germany. Aged 83. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service on Friday, September 12, 2003 at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park located at 43rd & Folsom in Sacramento.

I met George in 1986. He had retired from California State University, Sacramento and I was hired to fill the position. I did not replace George. Co-workers told me about George and how loved he was by the campus community. I had the pleasure of joining others at dinner with George. I found him to be an extremely warm and lovely person. I only met George a few times but he left an impression on me. I found myself thinking of George just a few days ago. I'm sure George is safely in heaven this morning--sharing his warm and friendly self with others. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
