Gloria Dorsey Obituary


DORSEY, GLORIA Vartanian
Passed away at home on March 8, 2003, surrounded by her loving family after a 3-year courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Tom Dorsey, daughters Sharon Dorsey and Nancy Harlow and husband Dean, brothers & sisters, Peter Vartanian, Sam Vartanian, Virginia Smith of Oregon, Mae McMahon and husband Tony of San Francisco, grandchildren, Jennifer Shane and husband Donald and David Owen and great grandchild, Duncan Shane. Preceded in death by her parents Michael and Anne Latino Vartanian, sister, Nancy Walker and brother, George Vartanian. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles & friends. Gloria was a long time employee of the State of California. She worked for the Board of Optometry and most recently she was a Special Assistant at the Structural Pest Control Board. Friends are welcome for visitation Wednesday, March 12, 2003 beginning at 12:00pm and are invited to attend a Rosary Wednesday at 7:00pm at NICOLETTI, CULJIS & HERBERGER Funeral Home , 5401 Folsom Blvd. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 11:00am at ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC CHURCH , 26th & "K" Streets. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or Kaiser Hospice.

You were so kind when your daughter invited me into your home to meet you and your husband. I was so nervous when Nancy introduced me to you but, you were so welcoming . I'm forever sorry I broke up with your daughter, she was 15 I was 16, you would have been such a good mother in law. Rest in peace!!

Thank you for your condolences, kind thoughts and happy memories that you have of my Mom. She was a great lady who was loved by anyone (and everyone) who met her--she touched many lives and will never ever be forgotten.

Please continue to share any happy memories, stories, etc., that you experienced with my Mom.

I am very sorry to hear of Gloria's passing. I'm going to miss setting on the front steps visiting with her. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Gloria was a very special lady who made the lives she touched a little brighter. My thoughts and prayer are with you and your family.

Your mother was a joy to be around. She will be greatly missed. I will miss seeing her over at Theresa house for B-B-Que's and our special Macoroni and Potatoe salad contest, we would have between each other. You and your family our in my thoughts and prayers. Take care always Reina.

Gloria was the light of the neighborhood. The street isn't the same without her. She was a joyful and caring person. Gloria will forever be in my heart & I'm glad to have had her in my life.
