I competed against Headley in both track and basketball in high school - he won on both counts, but was always gracious and encouraging. He was a leader at a young age, and will be missed.

Nedra,
My name is Jackie Birdsell. My husband, Jeff, and I, sat next to you and Headley at the wedding of Brett Gudim. We only spent a few hours with you and Headley, but it only took a few minutes of sitting next to Headley to be charmed by him! Such a nice, handsome, and gracious man. Jeff and I loved hearing all about your family, and it was so obvious how proud Headley was to be your husband and the father and grandfather to your kids and their kids. We are so very sorry about his passing. We have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
God bless.

To the Chambers family, my sincere condolences for your loss. I got to know Headley through work most often sitting on the other side of the table but in doing so I never met anyone who portrayed the utmost in honesty, dignity, professionalism, caring and fun to be around than Headley. With my recent medical situation the phone calls he made to ensure how I was doing speaks loudly to the type of person he was. My God rest his soul.

Nedra and the Chambers family. My sincere condolences on your loss. Headley will be missed be all that had the good fortune of meeting him. I know he'd want us to celebrate his life. - a mutual friend once told me - Headley has turned saying hello into a full contact sport! The hugs and high fives, at times hurt! But you always knew this was Headley's way of sharing love for people he cared for. His smile, laugh and hugs were infectious.
Over the past few years Headley and I had a chance to share stories and pictures of our grandchildren. He was so proud of his family and loved having grandchildren as part of his life.

We will not be the same without him. Rest in peace my friend - God bless.

Nedra, Tiffany, Brandon and Jillian:

We pray continuous blessings of strength, peace and restoration over your entire family. Headley was a shining example of what it means to be salt and light to the world, a true "son of encouragement" with wisdom and kindness on display to everyone he touched. He loved his family as much as anyone I've ever known. It meant the world that he both trusted and encouraged me at a critical time in my career.

"Our loved ones , no longer with us , leave footprints in our hearts, impressions of kind acts, loving words and happy memories. These prints build a path for us to follow which will always lead to warmer places and brighter days."

We pray that the Lord would continue to bless and keep you - in all ways and at all times. Sincerely,

Gary Fish

September 22, 2016

Nedra we were so saddened to hear about Headley. I can still hear him on our back deck on hole #7 at Loch Lloyd with his big voice echoing throughout the neighborhood as we drank "several" bottles of wine and he smoked his cigars!

It was my privilege to work with Headley in the 80's in Sacramento. He had an infectious smile, a quick laugh, and a magnetic personality. He lit up any room he entered. He was larger than life. It was easy to see that he was destined for success at UPS. He was also a tremendous basketball player. I once played with him in Stockton and his game was a game with which I was unfamiliar--above the rim. Although I have not seen or talked with Headley in too many years, the pleasant memories I have of him are vivid. He was a great UPS partner. I offer my sincere condolences to his friends and family. God doesn't make people better than Headley.

Nedra, Jillian, Brandon, and Tiffany,

Chris, I, and our sons can not express how heartbroken and saddened we were about the loss of Headley. Just last week, I was with him and we talked about our families and our plans when the 1960 crew would be retiring. We love your family and I loved Headley like a brother. We know that no words can fill the void of your loss. I do not know of many men who have lived such a full and wonderful life and had the love and respect of so many. His smile could light up a room and he shared his kindness with many. Everywhere he went he made a friend for life and he was remembered by all. My family will miss him and we will forever miss his large Headley Hugs. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult period. God must have needed another angel in heaven to spread joy and happiness. I hope you all find peace in knowing that he is in a much better place. Prayers and love to all of you.

September 22, 2016

Our deepest & sincerest condolences to Nedra, the children and extended family. Words cannot begin to describe how heartbroken Stan and I are over Headley's sudden and unexpected passing. Our hearts are broken and it feels as if threads have been pulled out of our connected tapestry and realizing a little bit of the tapestrys beauty has faded! We loved him so and though not related by blood, considered he and Nedra and the children as family.
We first met when Headley & Nedra when he was transferred to West Chester, Pennsylvania through our children. From the moment we first met, the connection and bond that developed between us and our extended families reinforced our belief that God had intended for our paths to cross.
We began calling one another's parents "Mom & Dad" because it just seemed the right thing to do! Our children instantly began calling each of us "Aunt & Uncle" because again, it just seemed right because the connection was so strong!
When Headley & Nedra told us they were being transferred to Atlanta, we cried for days. However, we told them we had a cousin (Kenny Price his wife Donna & daughter Lauren)in Atlanta and they would adore them all. that connection was made and well, the rest is history!
Headley's smile was affectious, his personality larger than life, he was the glue that held everything together for his family & friends. He loved life & lived it brilliantly, fulfilling a "bucket list" that anyone that may have lived to be one hundred could never have filled!
We will miss your shining light Headley and until we meet again in Heaven, kiss our little angel Stanley for us!

My sincerest condolences to the entire Chambers family. May you find comfort in each other during this difficult time. Headley was, still is and always will be larger than life. He touched so many lives in such a positive, inclusive way. He and I started at UPS within 2 weeks of each other. It was over 90 degrees outside which made those trailers feel like 100 degrees in the shade. I showed up with this pint sized water and almost fainted the first day. Headley and my buddy Rod encouraged me and showed me the ropes. I felt like quitting early on, but their support kept me going. Headley always found a way to make me laugh and challenged me to be the best. His work ethic always served as a model for me even after I left UPS.

One thing is clear. He loved life, his beautiful wife, his family and friends. He left way too early and yet his memory lives on in everyone he touched. Keep smiling Head and shining your light in heaven!

I met Headley, Nedra and the kids 20 years ago at one of Everett and Headley's basketball games in Sacramento. Meeting Headley for the first time was like meeting an old friend for the hundredth time. From that day on, I acquired a new family. I've never met anyone with such a hearty and infectious laugh and a heart of gold like Headley, but don't mistake his kindness for weakness on the basketball court, because that's when the true warrior prevailed.
Your presence will be sorely missed.
