Irwin Hatfield

1937 - 2025

I've gone fishing! What a lucky and remarkable life I had thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to so many wonderful family members and friends who were part of my journey. Brought into this world by my parents, Coomer and Virginia Hatfield, I was raised in Minnesota with my siblings, Edna and Ken, and moved to Stockton, California, shortly after my youngest sister Judy was born. After high school and working briefly in Southern California, I joined the National Guard to serve my beloved country. Following my honorable discharge, I worked at Aerojet handling rocket fuel. This is where I met the love of my life, Gail, while standing in the lunch line. After dating briefly, she said yes (!) and that was the beginning of our amazing life together. We were blessed with three wonderful children – Jennifer, Kathy and Mike. I then joined the Sacramento Sheriff's Department in 1967 to begin serving my community in law enforcement – first on patrol locally, then ultimately as an undercover burglary detective. I built our family home in Fair Oaks, California, with help from family and friends and continued to protect and serve Sacramento County until I retired in December 1988. Gail and I were married for 56 blessed years during which we traveled extensively, hunted, fished, and enjoyed spending time with those we loved. During my nearly 39 years of retirement, I was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren – Kody, Neisha, Shadia, and Michael. More recently, my clan expanded with my great grandchildren; Rodney III and.

Samaya. I was blessed to have so many amazing (and fun) friends to list. I had many family members, also, whom I loved and shared life with. You all made my life journey so worthwhile. I was fortunate to live life my way, including staying in my home and living independently to the end. I love you all and I want you to remember that thanks to your love, support and friendship I was blessed with a truly amazing life. No regrets. Gotta go now; Heaven's fishing hole awaits.
