James BARNES Obituary

BARNES, James Bruce
We miss our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Jim was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 18, 1960 and passed away at Mercy San Juan Hospital on September 28, 2010 from pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his brother, John, in 2007. He leaves behind daughters, Alyssa and Melinda; stepdaughter, Sara Green; parents, Richard and Millie; brother, Dan; nieces, Samantha and Nicole; and numerous friends. Jim worked the past 15 years for Snell Memorial Foundation during which time he pursued his engineering degree. In 2009, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Jim relaxed by writing music and playing his guitar; riding his Harley in the foothills; and camping and traveling with his daughters. A celebration of his life will be held at 12 noon on November 6, 2010 at the Citrus Heights Community Center, 6300 Fountain Square Drive, Citrus Heights CA. View Enhanced Obituary

Rest in peace, it has been an honor to be your colleague and friend.

Through our work connection we had spoken on the telephone, thousands of miles apart. Then, one good day, Jim visits our lab. After just two minutes of meeting the guy through the door, he is no longer just a work colleague but a geniune friend. To all of Jim's family and close freinds in the USA, we would like you to know that the loss you feel, is also felt across the world, by those that had the pleasure to know him.

I remember when Jim road his bike to visit. He had just gotten it and didnt have his bell. We went to Street vibs that day and I suprised him with one. His whole face lit up and I got the warmest hug and kiss... now when I hear a bell I smile and remember that moment. Now Jim is the angle following the rider. Peace my Friend. Miss you much...

So sorry for your loss. That is a good picture of Jim just like the one in my mind whenever I think of him, that smile of his. I will always remember him as the man who helped me see things beyond the earth with my own eyes. Through his telescope, I saw craters on the moon and the Hale Comet.
