James Simons Obituary


SIMONS, James
Mr. Simons died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Grass Valley. He was 83. He was born March 28, 1922, in Water Lou, WI to Earle and Gladys Simons. He served in the U.S. Navy as chief petty officer from 1942 to 1945. He married Virginia in March 1970, in San Jose. He was a licensed real estate agent in Sacramento. He was a senior real estate agent for 12 years at Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and 20 years at Santa Clara Valley District. He was a member of the Nevada City Elks Club, Public Employee Retirement Association, Interfaith Food Ministry, Hospice of the Foothills, and the 20-50 Club in Sacramento. He enjoyed golf, reading, & traveling the United States. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia Simons of Penn Valley; daughters, Judith Ann Simons of New York City, NY, and Denise Colella of San Jose; sons, James Simons Sr. of Chino Hills, and Michael O'Steen of San Jose; brother, Richard Simons of Bovey, MN; and grandchildren, Kyra and Michael of San Jose. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Gladys Simons; and daughter, Michele O'Steen. Memorial services for James W. Simons of Penn Valley will be conducted at 3:30pm Saturday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Burial will be at the Los Gatos Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
