Jeroline THOMPSON Obituary

Our dear sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jeroline Willetta Thompson (also known as Jerri and Mimi) died peacefully surrounded by family on February 9, 2017. She was 91 years young. Mimi, as she was known in her later years, lived life to the fullest. The most important things in Mimi's life were her church, family and community. Mimi was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church for 45 years and also attended Lutheran Church of Ascension in her later years. Mimi, the eldest of seven children, five girls and two boys, was born on May 27, 1925 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Blanche B. and Earl H. Green, Sr. Throughout her life she participated in many social and civic organizations; including being on the board of the Crocker Art Gallery, founding member of the Mr. & Mrs. Club, member of the NAACP and other organizations. Mimi also loved to dance, play cards, and was an avid fan of jazzercise. In 1943 Mimi graduated from Field Kindley High School and shortly thereafter went on a 3 week vacation to Sacramento to visit a friend. She decided to stay in Sacramento and never went back to live in Coffeyville. Her parents and siblings eventually followed her to Sacramento. Mimi found almost immediate employment at McClellan AFB where she retired after 40 years. Mimi's beloved husband, Walter M. Thompson, Sr. after 69 years of marriage, preceded her in death as well as her granddaughter Meagan Ramey and her brother Earl H Green, Jr. Mimi is survived by her daughter: Valerie Hooper (Gary); her daughter: Shirley Ramey; and her son: Walter M. Thompson, Jr.; her granddaughter: Ericka Hooper; her grandson: Daren Hooper; her grandson Adam Ramey; her grandson Justin Thompson; her granddaughter: Jessica Derksen (Sean); and her granddaughter Brittany Thompson; her great- grandson; Kayden Hooper; her great-granddaughter Abella Hooper; her sisters: Doris Jackson, Theresa Allen, and Joan White; her brother Steve Green (Kay); sister-in-law Inge Green (Earl Jr.) her sister-in-law; Roselma King; her sister-in-law Barbara Brown (John L.); and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews. The celebration of Mimi's life will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Lutheran Church of Ascension, 7607 Garden Gate Drive, Citrus Heights, CA 95621. A private burial for family members will be Friday, February 17, 2017 at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes. Gifts in celebration of Mimi's life may be sent to Ascension Lutheran Church, 7607 Garden Gate Drive, Citrus Heights, CA 95621, or Calvary Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 310, Rio Linda, CA 95673.

Becky and I are so proud to have been friends and professional associates of Jeri and her wonderful husband Walt. The two of them were an example of generous and loving people. They will always be a treasured memory of all the good times in Sacramento.
