Jim D. Shepard

Jim D. Shepard passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018, just shy of his 84th birthday. "Big Jim" and Paula Jean, his wife of 62 years who died in 2016, are greatly missed by their large family and circle of friends. Jim and his "PJ" brought countless people together in their home for special occasions and just because. They took great pride and joy in their family, which includes 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Jim loved exploring California with PJ and the kids, and they enjoyed picnicking, hiking and watching wildlife at parks, beaches, zoos and museums. Jim and his "little sister" Janice moved to California as young children with their parents Virgil and Maurine in a car that broke down shortly after leaving their small town in Kansas. Jim lived in Sacramento for most of his life, but his 37-year career with Western Electric and AT&T took him to telephone offices all over the state. Jim's friends know that his skills included building and fixing things and telling jokes and funny stories. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Jim's four children- Michael, Michelle, Madelyn and Monique- are beyond grateful for their wonderful parents and wish to thank all who brought love and joy into their lives. Special thanks go to Regency Place Senior Living's exceptional staff and residents. All friends and family are invited to share memories and refreshments at an informal gathering on Sunday, April 15, from 3:30-5:30 at Aviator's restaurant at 6151 Freeport Blvd. in Sacramento.
