Joanne Collins Obituary
COLLINS, Joanne M.
Passed away suddenly on November 30, 2007. Joanne was born in Leola, South Dakota on March 8, 1936, the first child of Harley and Marie Christopherson. After moving their family to Tacoma, Washington State, Joanne graduated from Clover Park High School in about 1953. She then attended San Bernardino Valley College, graduating with her Associates degree in 1958. Joanne met and married Charles ''Chick'' Collins and was a loving wife and a devoted mother to her two sons, Tim and Sean Collins. Later, Joanne attended night school for seven years which culminated into her earning her teaching degree and Bachelors degree from Sacramento State College in 1970. Joanne taught elementary school for 25 years and retired in 1996. She is survived by her mother Marie Christopherson, brothers Jim Christopherson (wife-Donna), John Christopherson (wife-Lindy), sisters Gloria Phillips, Karen Beck (husband-Larry), sons Tim and Sean Collins, grandchildren Amber Collins, Rachael Collins, Michelle Collins, great-grandchildren Courtney and Charles Nickell. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

I have known Joanne for over 20 years originally through bowling and then as a mentor confidante whose thoughts and comments were always respected by me. She was a caring and loving person who did such a fine job of raising her children and grandchildren by giving her love to them in her special ways. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. I will miss my monthly mentor lunches and conversations with her. I am saddened by the loss of a good friend.

I knew Joanne for close to 20 years as a neighbor. It seemed we could talk forever when we got started. I always enjoyed our sporadic conversations, and appreciated her ability to keep looking up when things got tough. I will truly miss her. My Best to the Family.
