Citrus Heights, California - Joanne Barbara Wagner was born January 31, 1935, in Watsonville California to William and Norine Serpa. Joanne passed away on February 14th, 2021 in Citrus Heights, CA. She is survived by her four children: Patrick (Dorothy) Wagner, Celia (Steven) Porter, George (Margie) Wagner, and Sharon Wagner, as well as many grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Joanne grew up in Watsonville CA where she was raised by loving parents in a home with her brother William and many relatives close by. After graduating from high school, she began work for AT&T as a telephone operator. During this time, she met and married her husband Peter James Wagner. Soon after, the new family moved to Sacramento CA where they lived for the remainder of their lives. While maintaining the home and raising her children, Joanne worked for Weinstocks for many years in the Domestics Department. After retirement, Joanne volunteered her time at St. Mel Catholic Church. There she served the church, running the church library, arranging altar flowers, and sewing many vestments. Joanne was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her good heart, calm demeanor, and joyful attitude. She always said raising her four children was her greatest accomplishment. A Memorial Service is scheduled at St. Mel Church on Tuesday, February 23rd at 1:30 PM, preceded by a Rosary at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Citrus Heights at a later date.
