John Bonfield Obituary
Born August 27, 1939, in East Orange, NJ, John was the son of the late Robert and Betty Bonfield (née Comstock). A proud veteran, he served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a B-52 navigator, achieving the rank of Major.
John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patrice "PJ" Hargrove-Bonfield; sons David (Kim) of Avon, MN, and Michael (Maka Venegas) of Rockville, MD; stepchildren Matthew Hargrove and Elizabeth Walker; sister JoAnne (Jim) Taylor of Lake St. Louis, MO; brother Bruce of Naples, FL; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his firstborn son John (Donna) of Richmond, VA, and his sister-in-law Diane.
An avid model train enthusiast and lifelong fan of both the New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants, John will be remembered for his devotion to family and pride in his service.
A funeral with full military honors will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.

PJ, I am so sorry. It is so very difficult to find and say the words that reflect how I feel. Only God can give you comfort right now so I will ask him for that. I always enjoyed John´s company at our family get togethers and the pastel shirts he always wore. They fit his gentle and sunny nature so well. Somehow pastels and B52s worked for him. He was a special kind of man and I will miss him. I know your pain and deep sadness and so does God. Let him in. I am also sorry that I won´t be able to be at the service tomorrow but I hope to see you soon. God bless.
