West Sacramento, California - John Arthur "Corkey" Colbert passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Sacramento, California, at the age of 77. Born on August 16, 1947, Corkey lived a life rooted in service, family, and integrity. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran and continued his commitment to his community with a dedicated career in the Sacramento County Sheriff's department (Badge #615). Corkey was known for his love of motorcycles, his quick wit, and, above all, his deep devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride. He is survived by his beloved children: Sean, Samantha, Dennis, Doug, and David. He was a proud grandfather to Tim, Simone, Serina, Sarah, Jordan, Morgan, Chad, Haven, Heather, Leah, Andrew, and Abbey. Corkey will be remembered as a strong and loving presence in the lives of those who knew him. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and the many lives he touched with his warmth, strength, and unwavering sense of duty. Details of a celebration of life will be shared with family and friends.
