John Rayne "Jack" Cropper

1923 - 2018

John Rayne "Jack" Cropper was born December 28, 1923, in Washington, D.C. and passed away on July 3, 2018. Loving husband of Patricia Adair Cropper for 27 years and Caroline Julia Cropper for 28 years. Survived by two sons, David and Jim, one daughter, Jennifer Adair Smith and one brother, Donald. He had 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He served in the Navy during World War II as a fighter pilot aboard aircraft carriers in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and worked for the Division of Highways/Caltrans for over 40 years in Planning, Design, Construction, and Maintenance in San Diego, Stockton, and Sacramento. He was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of the North Ridge Country Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling particularly to the Hawaiian Islands. He will be missed by family and friends alike. A memorial service will be held at Sierra View Funeral Chapel at 6201 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA 95608 on July 27, 2018 at 10:30 with a reception to follow at North Ridge Country Club. He will be interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
