Sacramento, California - John Carlos Halla, born January 11, 1924, went to meet his Lord and Savior and Blessed Mother Mary on March 9, 2023.
Preceded in death by his father William and mother Delia, brother Bill and sister Anita. Survived by his beloved wife Anna, and children Cherie, Susan (Ron), John (Laurie) and David (Michelle). Cherished Grandfather of Christina, Amber, John Jr., Shawnie, Christopher (Deceased), Jeremiah, Jenifer, Joshua and Jonathan, and many great grandchildren.
A native of San Jose, California, during World War II he served in the Merchant Marines, and returning home helped manage Halla Coffee Company. John worked for several Nevada casinos, including the Tropicana in Las Vegas, and Harrah's Casino in South Lake Tahoe where he met the love of his life, Anna.
He owned and operated Trinity World Travel in San Francisco, overseeing group travel to Europe, Asia and the Americas. He and Anna moved to Sacramento in 1989.
John was active in many civic and business organizations including the Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCs), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
As a devout Catholic, John was a member of the Knights of Columbus (74 years) and involved in the building committees for several churches in both Nevada and California. His last church endeavor was Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Sacramento (Natomas).
A mentor and humble example of Christian values, John was respected, loved and will be missed by those who knew him.
A Vigil and Rosary will be held on Friday, March 31 from 7 to 8 PM, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1 at 11 AM at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 2231 Club Center Drive, Sacramento.
