John Kincaid Obituary

KINCAID, John Lee
John Lee Kincaid passed away at home in Spring Creek, Nev., at sunrise on Nov. 17, 2004. At 6'9" tall, John was known as a truly gentle giant. "There's always something or someone bigger than you are," he said. "So you have to let God take care of your problems." John was born in Dayton, Wash., on April 30, 1953, to John Amos Kincaid and Iva (Kincaid) Hatch, was raised in Haver, Mont., Yakima, Wash., and Grass Valley, Calif. A 1971 graduate of Nevada Union High School, John played varsity football for the Miners. He attended Sierra College where he excelled in wrestling. He later attended CSU in Sacramento where he became a Christian and met his wife, Peggy. After marrying and starting a family, John received an associate of science degree in electronics from American River College. He worked at McClellen AFB for 14 years where he won many awards for outstanding service. He relocated to Norman, Okla., in 2000 to work for Tinker AFB, and in 2002 relocated to Elko, Nev., with the National Weather Service. He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norman, Okla., and of Lamoille Presbyterian Church in Lamoille, Nev., where he was anticipating serving as an elder. He was a wonderful father, son, husband, brother, nephew, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Peggy; mother and stepfather, Iva and Charles Hatch; children, John Daniel, Anna, Sarah and Teresa; sister, Kathleen; aunt Pat; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Lamoille Community Presbyterian Church in Lamoille, Nev. Donations can be made to Lamoille Community Presbyterian Church. In his last days, John gained strength from II Corinthians 4:16-18 and strengthened others through his unwavering faith in Christ.

John was a great guy and will be missed. I'll never forget playing softball with him and seeing him hold the bat and it would look like a toothpick in the big mans hands. My condolence to his family and all who knew him.

John and I worked together at McClellan AFB. He went to Oklahoma and I went to Utah when the base closed. "Big John" was always willing to help and lend a hand. A giant of a man and a heart to match.

Mr. Kincaid used to wrestle with me when I was young. He treated me as if I was his own son. His memory will live on in my heart.

I met John at McClellan AFB and was always glad to see and work alongside him. At first his size was intimidating, but once you got to know him you discovered he was one of the friendliest guys you would ever meet and would never forget. Sorry to hear that he has left us.

I have very fond memories of working with "Big" John at McClellan AFB in the Electronic Warfare area. My fondest memory is when at 5'2" I played Santa one year and John was my Elf. John was a great person with a great heart.

Big John was a great guy. We had some good times at the base and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
