Bakersfield, California - John E. Martin 3rd was born in Sacramento , CA on September 4, 1958. He was the son of BeBe Drake and John E. Martin 2nd of Hackensack, NJ. John passed away January 27, 2025 at Memorial hospital in Bakersfield surrounded by his family. John graduated from C K McClatchy High School. He also served in the United States Army from 1982-1985 earning an honorable discharge.He is preceded in death by his father John E. Martin 2nd, brother Carl A. Whiteside, grand father renowned psychiatrist Dr. Carl E. Drake Sr. and grand mother Beatrice Drake. John leaves behind to mourn his mother BeBe (Beatrice) Drake Massey, his sisters Shelley Whiteside and Robin Darby. John also leaves behind to mourn his children, Erika, John IV, David, Regina, Dallas, Darryl and Corrie. He leaves behind his 14 grandchildren that called him paw paw. John enjoyed spending time with them and he enjoyed family gatherings. Especially on holidays. John leaves behind uncles, cousins and other family members numerous to name. John's smile lit up a room and sadly that light has gone out. Going home celebration of life ceremony will be Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Rucker's Mortuary-Bakersfield, 301 Baker Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305.Viewing at 12 noon and service at 1:00 p.m. 661-322-2001.
