John Clark Norris

Sacramento, California - John Clark Norris, 88, passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2025. John was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He graduated from Hobart College in New York, then pursued graduate studies at the London School of Economics, where he met his fellow student and future wife, Ann Benson. They immigrated to Sacramento in 1961, where John pursued several careers, notably as a systems analyst tasked with integrating the first financial computer system for Sacramento County. In the mid-1970s, he changed directions and became a real estate investor serving the Sacramento area. He is survived by his children Philip Norris (Alexandra) and Faye Pope (Will) as well as his grandchildren Cleo, Katie, Brit, Jack, and Luke.

John developed his love for the outdoors during summers spent at the family cottage in Minaki, Ontario. He had a great appetite for life, traveling widely and pursuing many hobbies, with fishing and skiing among his favorites. He always made time to talk to people he met (which could lead to very long errand runs!). He loved a good joke and said that if you couldn't appreciate the ones on you, you would miss half the good jokes in life. John required help in his final years, and it would be impossible to express fully our gratitude to Lorena Owens and Noa Ikanivere, who gave truly loving care that allowed him to stay in his home. John was one of the good people in the world, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held in the community center at Oak Crest Village at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 15.
