Sacramento, California - Born November 7, 1936, in Canton, China, Johnny Fong passed away on June 7, 2021, in Sacramento, CA, at the age of 84. Johnny immigrated to the United States in his teens and graduated from Galileo High School in San Francisco, CA. In 1958, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy. After completing service, he moved to Sacramento to begin a career in the grocery business. During his career, Johnny worked for Farmers Markets as a supervisor, which led to him owning his own grocery store. In his retirement, Johnny enjoyed playing golf, ballroom dancing, having coffee with his friends, going to the casinos, and especially traveling with his wife. Johnny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betsy; his children, Carol (Glenn), Cynthia (Eric), Penny (Andy) and Bryan (Hoa); and his grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Dylan, Mackenzie, Jacob, Bellamy, and Bennett. He is also survived by his sisters, Lannie Joe and Judy Wong; his sister-in-law, Yiu Yuet Gee; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers on June 26, 2021, at 11AM. A private interment will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
