Judi Cain Obituary

Born on October 5, 1948, Judi Elaine Anglin was the fourth of five daughters born to James N. and Rita (Hunker) Anglin. Raised in South Sacramento, Judi attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and later graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School.

Judi devoted her professional life to public service as a career employee of the State of California. While working at the DMV headquarters in Sacramento, she met Larry E. Cain, whom she later married. Together, they each dedicated 30 years to state service before retiring.

In the early 1970s, they purchased a home in the Golf Course Terrace neighborhood of South Sacramento, where they built a life rich with family, travel, and community. Judi and Larry were married for 37 years before Larry's passing from ALS in 2010. A few short years later, Judi began experiencing memory impairment and was diagnosed with dementia. In 2014, as her needs increased, she moved into assisted living.

Before her illness, Judi found joy in life's simple pleasures: tending her garden, taking long walks, and setting out on road trips. She had a deep love of travel and, over the course of her life, visited many countries and nearly every corner of the United States. She was quick to laugh and just as quick to shed a tear, carrying her heart close to the surface.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara E. Cain (Brian Davey) of Sacramento, who lovingly tended to her care following her diagnosis; her son, Adam J. Anglin (Michele Anglin) of Elk City, Kansas, and their three children; her stepchildren, Lori Rogers and Michael Cain-Vessels; and her sisters, JoAnn Anglin of Sacramento, Jean Weber of Diamond Springs, Jerri Stone of Eldon, Missouri, and Janet Whittle of Jefferson City, Missouri.

Judi has been, and will continue to be, deeply missed by her family and friends who are heartbroken she's no longer with us, yet grateful that she is now at peace.

A memorial will be held on February 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA. 95819.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center c/o UC Davis Health Sciences Development or the Ethel Macleod Hart Senior Center c/o the City of Sacramento.

I was a neighbor and coworker. Sarah babysat for my boys and probably still has nightmares of those days. Judi was such a beautiful person, inside and out. Rest in Peace Judi, and my condolences to all who knew and loved her.
