Kathryn Vermilion Obituary

Kathryn Vermilion went home with Jesus on 2/18/17 after a brief illness. Kathy was born 12/6/40 to Wes & Dorothy Peters in Sacramento. Kathy grew up happy and carefree with her brothers Roger (Yvonne) and twin Ken (Betty). She attended CK McClatchy HS. After earning a BA in Mathematics at CSUS, Kathy taught school in Sacramento, Pasadena, Bakersfield and Arvin, CA. Kathy married F. Raymond Vermilion at Fremont Presbyterian Church in 1965 and moved to Temple City where all 3 children, Laurie (Eric), Paul (Stefanie) and Tim (Angela) were born. The entire family relocated to Bakersfield in 1972. After Ray's death in 1997, Kathy continued to travel with her kids and grandkids. Memories were made on trips throughout the US and UK. Kathy left teaching in 1980 to work for the County of Kern as an Account Clerk. She retired after 25 years and remained busy with church, serving coffee on Sunday mornings, tutoring adults and supporting other seniors. Kathy is survived by her twin brother Ken, her children and 12 grandchildren. Prior to her illness, Kathy was excited about moving in with her daughter by the end of the year. We know God has an even better place for her now. "I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." John 14:3 (ESV). A memorial honoring her life will be on 3/4/17 at 10:30 AM at First Church of the Nazarene in Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity. www.bakersfield.com/ obits
