Margaret Posehn Obituary

Margaret Evonne Posehn

October 23, 1938 - May 15, 2025

North Highlands, California - Margaret Evonne (Radley) Posehn passed away in her home on May 15th, 2025, after a 23-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

She was born on October 23, 1938 to William Percival Radley and Margaret (Marge) Frieda Dieze in Sacramento, California. After William was released from Folsom Prison and deported to England, Marge married Jim Krans of Rio Linda. Jim and Marge settled on a poultry ranch in Rio Linda where Margaret and her older sister Georgia rigorously tended to chickens, cows, and pigs, and moving irrigation sprinkler pipes in the pasture. This strong work ethic stayed with her all her life.

Margaret attended Rio Linda Elementary school and graduated from Grant Union High School in 1956. After graduating Margaret married Willard Ernst of Modesto. They had four children, Richard, Cindy, James and Leslie. Margaret worked at Bank of America, then at McClellan Air Force Base as a Clerk-Typist, then transferred to the Protocol Office of the Commanding General. She finished her career supervising the Base Post Office.

Willard and Margaret divorced in 1969, and Margaret married John Posehn of Rio Linda in 1971. Margaret and the children moved into the Posehn home in North Highlands. About this time Margaret decided to learn about her father. This involved a great deal of research that resulted in the finding of two sisters and four brothers. Margaret became fascinated with genealogy and established a genealogy research business soon after retiring.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents and her son James Ernst. Margaret is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Posehn; son Richard (Anna) Ernst of Ada,OK, and daughters Cindy (Mark) Haag of Port Angeles, WA, and Leslie (Randy) Cornell of Nampa, ID, as well as her sisters Georgia Atwood of Rio Linda, CA and Joyce Buckland of North Highlands, CA. She leaves behind grandchildren; Phillip Ernst, Richard Ernst Jr, Will Ernst, Joel Ernst, LeAnne (Haag) Klock, April Haag, Leo Haag, Brandon Cornell, Aaron Cornell, Megan (Cornell) Winters, Jennifer Ernst and John Ernst as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the nurses and doctors at Kaiser Roseville Oncology Center for their care and compassion while treating Margaret's illness. Special thanks to Randy and Leslie Cornell for their loving care and for transporting her to her many appointments. At her request no services will be held.

My sincere condolences to the family. I never met Margaret in person, but spoke by telephone frequently. In 2000 I started my adventure in genealogy and Margaret was one of of the many people to help train me on my adventure; she was truly a blessing to me and will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be missed by many.
