Citrus Heights, California - Mark Wesley Cowden was born on Saturday, October 11, 1941, in Albany, California, and passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Roseville, California. Mark grew up in Richmond, California, and enjoyed lettering in many sports at El Cerrito High School. Mark received a BS from San Francisco State, an MS from UC Davis, and a PhD from Roswell Park Memorial Institute in New York. After a postdoc at Georgetown University, Mark and his family returned to California, where he was involved in a variety of endeavors. He was a long-time resident of Citrus Heights, California. Mark was predeceased by his wife Rachel Thurman Cowden. He is survived by his two sons, David and Michael Cowden, and his brothers, Douglas and Roderick Cowden.
