Mary Digitale Obituary

Mary Wise Digitale went to be with her Lord on Dec. 31, 2011. Mary was born to Theodore and Agnes (Pike) Wise near Greenville, Illinois on Oct. 9, 1919. She was the youngest of 10 children, a descendant of Americans who fought in the Revolutionary and Civil wars and the great-granddaughter of a 49er whose Gold Rush diary now resides with the California State Library. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, John A. Digitale, as well as by all her siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her dear children: Kirk (Kathy), Garry (Lisa), Mary Louise Lapachet (Jon) and Robert (Carol); eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1946, Mary graduated from nurses training at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado. It was there she met John, who was stationed nearby while in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. They were married shortly after she had graduated and he had returned from duty in New Guinea, the Philippines and Tokyo. Visitation will be Friday Jan. 13, 2012 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Andrews & Greilich Mortuary, 3939 Fruitridge Road. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at Riverside Wesleyan Church, 6449 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento. Remembrances may be made to the Building Fund of Riverside Wesleyan Church or to the charity of your choice.
