MaryAnna Spataro Obituary

MaryAnna Spataro passed away on October 15, 2025, in Sacramento, California. She was born on August 19, 1933, in Corning, California, the first of three daughters of Alex and Mary Klimas.

During her early years, MaryAnna's family lived in several small towns across California. She attended Winters High School and graduated from Livingston High School, where she met her first husband, David Harris. They married in 1952 and made their home in North Sacramento. MaryAnna devoted herself to raising their five children before beginning a career as a librarian at Hagginwood School-a role she cherished for its connection to students and learning.

Her professional journey later took her to The Catholic Herald and then to the Human Resources Department at SMUD, from which she eventually retired. A devout Catholic, MaryAnna was an active member of St. Joseph's Parish in North Sacramento and later contributed her time to committees at St. Joseph's Church in Clarksburg and the Sacramento Food Bank.

In 1991, she married Angelo Spataro. Together they lived in the Pocket area of Sacramento and remained deeply involved in their church and community.

MaryAnna is survived by her five children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, her husband Angelo Spataro, and all their families.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, humor, elegance, and practicality. She found joy in traveling, shopping, and engaging conversations. Her warmth extended beyond her immediate family, as she welcomed her children's friends into her home with open arms.

Donations in MaryAnna's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
