Melvin Boyd
August 26, 1946 - June 26, 2021
Sacramento, California - Melvin Clay Boyd passed away on June 26, 2021 at the age of 74, in Roseville, CA. Since 2019 he fought bravely with brain cancer.
His childhood began in Great Falls, MT. After graduating from Hamilton Township High School, Mel served in the Air Force in Vietnam then became a photojournalist for KCRA and KOVR. In 1967, Mel and Linda began 54 years of marriage. His passions in life were rock and roll music, guitars, classic cars, bowling, and serving his fellow veterans through Veteran Affairs, including Honor Flights and recording the life stories of WWII P-38 crews. Mel was preceded in death by his father, Fred Sr. and brother Fred Jr. Mel is survived by his beloved wife Linda, daughters Shawna and Cindy, and son Jeff; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; Mother Lola, and sisters Christy and Shelley.
Mel's ashes will be buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. on Fri., Sept. 3, 2021, from 1:00pm–2:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at the VA Hall in Folsom, CA. on Sat., Sept. 4th from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Please RSVP.
