Mike was a kind soul - exceptionally intelligent, fun-loving, and passionate about life and people. He loved learning (but hated school) and was constantly expanding his knowledge and skills through his personal endeavors.
In childhood, he enjoyed making people laugh and had a keen ability for impressions and sound effects (even doing some radio voiceover work). In high school, he was pitcher on the baseball team, and even returned after graduation a couple times to coach the school´s annual "Sports-a-Rama" event.
He was a huge fan of The Office, often peppering conversations with quotes only other fans would appreciate. An avid video gamer his entire life, Mike immersed himself in the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Halo, anything by Bethesda, and shredded the guitar in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. And it was not just the gameplay that sparked joy, it was the technology behind the interfaces and gaming mechanics.
He also had an intense appreciation for all types of music, from rap to classical. He had a beautiful bass voice and sang with the Sacramento State Chamber Choir, touring France, Italy, and Switzerland with group in the spring of 1998.
Mike was often deployed for work for long periods, and the friendships he formed with his coworkers are hard to come by. Through his job with Kratos, Mike became an aviation enthusiast and was close to achieving his goal of obtaining his private pilot license.
More than anything else, Mike loved his children. Merritt and Eva were his heart and reason for being. Mike´s passing has torn the world apart and made it hard to know where the pieces go.
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." -Michael Scott (The Office)
