Miss you my friend. I have this picture of Mike and my son on my night stand. It was taken in 2000 a couple days after our son was born.

I miss you my old friend! I miss your famous words, "look at you!" Although we were friends for only a short time, you left an impression on me and even though it´s been 19 years, I still think of our times at the football games, yelling at the TV, hanging out in Tahoe, and getting our families together to hang out, drink super-strong coffee, and talk "fast cars." I miss you my friend and look forward to one day seeing you at the Pearly Gates!

My dearest brother Mike,

Well it has been nearly two years since you departed this earth. I think of you often, a song,a smile,a picture of your son who is your spitting image...so many reminders of you still linger. I miss your laugh, your fondness for Leatherby's,our golf matches, our football talk, your kindness and humbleness. You were the dream brother-inlaw....I always enjoyed our visits and conversations. I am having a hard time seeing Julie move on with this new husband Derek....he is a nice guy...just not you. I am so happy for Jordan he now has a man in his life he can look up to, he needs a father....you know that, your life seemed to fall apart after your father passed on. I wish we could go back and do something to change this outcome..unfortunately I will have to wait til I am called home and then I can catch you up on these great basketball playoffs you are missing!! Mike, you would be so proud of Jordan...he is such a great kid, he is going to be one heck of a golfer too!! Rest in peace my brother...Love, Becky

I miss my dear friend Mike. Sometimes I think I see you and then as quickly as a joy fills my heart I am once again saddened by the emptiness of a present and future without you. I miss your ever present smile and kindness. I enjoy remembering times our families were together; especially you and Jordan playing with an airplane and your eagerness to retrieve his plane for what seemed like the 100th time. just to see jordan enjoy another moment. I have wonderful memories to share with your prized treasure, Jordan. He will know what a wonderful father, husband and friend you were.

"Let your requests be made know to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts." Philippians 4:6-7

Love, Gail

Dear Mike,

When I met you at your brother Chris' home 6 years ago I knew we would be friends. As your many other friends have noted, your were incredibly intelligent, gentle and kind. Your smile and that famous "Helwig Laugh" would light up a room.

Jordan was just a few months old at the time and is definitely your "mini me". When I see him now and he jumps up into my arms, I feel like I'm hugging both of you. I miss you.

Your friend - Jerry

My dearest Mike....as we come to the 1 year mark, I still struggle with the cold reality that you are no longer with us...will I ever accept this? I know you walk with the Heavenly Host and you are filled with His peace like we will never know in this temporal place...I long to see you one day, and even more for you to see your beautiful son who is your reflection. I thank God for you everyday...the life that you shared with me and the legacy that you left behind...I miss you deeply! love always, Juls

Dear Helwig Family,

Mike was such an intelligent, sweet friend and gentle soul. I feel blessed to have shared many youthful memories, laughs and even hardships with him.

This quote provided some comfort to me when I heard the news as I hope it will for you: "Adversity is the diamond dust that heaven polishes its jewels with."

Mike truly was a jewel and he will be sorely missed.

To the Helwig Family:

I was both saddened and shocked to learn of Mike's passing. I have know Mike since the 1st grade, and went all through Sacred Heart and Mitty with him. While our friendship tapered off during the high school years, I will always remember him as being a very kind and generous person. He always had a kind word and a smile for me (even when other's didn't). It warms my heart to know that he had the Lord in his heart, and is now with his Saviour. My deepest sympathies to all of you.

Ken & Family,

I am so very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. Although I never got to know Mike as many other HADCO/Sanmina folks did, I grieve nonetheless for your loss, Ken. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family and I pray that God may give you strength, courage, comfort, and peace during this time. Remember that God is God no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in. I'm sure Mike knew that and would want you to put your faith and trust in Him.

Julie and Jordan,

It was with great sadness and shock that we discovered Mike's picture and funeral notice in the paper yesterday. While we were only neighbors for a short time, we really came to enjoy your family and Mike was always so kind and gentle towards our family. We know that he is in a much better place now and that brings us some measure of peace.

Our continued thoughts and prayers are with you and Jordan. God Bless you,

Maura and Donald

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Mike. I, too, will remember him for his beautiful smile and his infectious personality.

We all struggle with God's reasoning from time to time and I know this must be one for us all. May we all find strength in Him and take joy in knowing that Mike is at His side.
