Sacramento, California - Michael John Turpen, affectionately known as "Dude," passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024, in Sacramento, CA, at the age of 77. Mike's early years were filled with the thrill of competitive tennis at Sutter Lawn, honing his skills as both a sportsman and an expert marksman during his treasured hunting expeditions. However, it was golf that truly captured his heart, becoming his lifelong passion.
Throughout his 40-year career as a commercial real estate developer, Mike exhibited exceptional intelligence and humor. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mike always found his greatest joy in the company of his beloved family. His presence, marked by his quick wit and infectious laughter, illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Swanston Turpen (Lil), his son, Michael Spencer Turpen (Mickey), and his sister, Suzanne Turpen McKinnon (Suzy). He is survived by his loving wife, Heidi, and his children Brannely (Jancy), Zachary (Marisol), Samantha, Hud, and his stepson, Tyler Poppinga (Stacy).
Mike's legacy extends beyond his immediate family to include cherished grandchildren: Lillian, George Ann, Chase, Bridget, Jacob, and Leila, who brought him immense joy and pride.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Dear Mike,
I can´t believe you´re gone. You and "mini" were such a great team together. I´ll miss your smile and laugh- you´re love of gardening and westerns and golf and dogs! Thanks for all the airport runs- enjoyed our conversations about football and politics and grandkids. Thank you for taking good care of and loving my sister so much.
You´ll be forever in our hearts~

Can't say I affectionately knew him as "Dude" but I knew him in all my years at Sutter Lawn in growing up in East Sac neighborhood and marrying my dear friend "Lil" Swanston. I do,however want to extend my deepest condolences to all his family. May he now Rest 'n Peace. James Koewler
