Milo Hewitt Obituary

On the afternoon of Saturday October 7, Dr. Milo L. Hewitt passed from this world in the arms of loving family and friends. Milo spent his final years living life to the fullest while taking care of his wife Patricia, despite suffering from melanoma and lymphoma himself. Milo was born December 27, 1931 in Sacramento, CA. He was a graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College. He earned a dental degree in 1956 from UCSF. Following dental school, Milo joined the Army and was stationed in Orleans, France. It was there that he began practicing dentistry and started a lifelong love affair with all things French, particularly great food, wine and beer. In September 1958, Milo returned to Sacramento and established his practice in Oak Park. He later moved his practice to East Sac, a move that allowed him to commute daily by bicycle. Milo spent his time off sailing, hiking, and skiing. It was his love of skiing that led him to meet his wife Pat at Tamarack Ski Club. Pat and Milo married on March 21, 1964 and soon had two boys. Pat and Milo and their two boys enjoyed biking, skiing, camping, back packing in and around Tahoe and Donner Lakes. They also enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends. Milo served in the Sacramento Chapter of the Rotarians Club and volunteered as a docent at the Sacramento Railroad Museum. Together, Pat and Milo were active in their churches, Fremont Presbyterian and University Presbyterian, as well as the Tamarack and California Kandahar Ski Clubs. Milo was predeceased by Patricia, his beloved wife of 53 years, and his parents Milo and Ruth Hewitt. He is survived by his sons David and Paul and four grandsons, Carson, Jacob, Samson, and Maxwell. Services will be held at Fremont Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 27th at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K Street, NW Suite 800, Washington, DC 20005.

Milo will be greatly missed at the CA State Railroad Museum. He touched hundreds of lives over his 16 years of faithful service as a volunteer. He contributed a little over 2,770 hours sharing the wonders of train cars and locomotives to every visitor that came his way. We will miss seeing him Wednesday afternoons, sharply dressed as a train engineer, smile on his face. We are so very, very sorry for your loss and our hearts go out to you.

David & Paul so sorry for the loss of your dear dad. I too have experienced this type of pain and some times it's hard to believe he is gone. The thing that keeps me going is knowing my heavenly father will never leave me. Yes, my going to God in prayer helps tremendously. Ps. 94:19-

We first met Pat and Milo 37 years ago when we moved into the neighborhood, and what great neighbors and friends they were over the years. Our hearts are out to David and Paul, and those other family members who supported Milo so during his hours of need. We are saddened at his passing and will greatly miss both Milo and Pat.
